And I thought Provigil had no abuse potential...

Posted by football on April 2, 2007, at 16:22:15

Every comprehensive study that you can find online claims that Provigil has no abuse potential and can not cause euphoria.

But my friend, after hearing a rumor that it can, took 1300 MG of it (normal dose is 100 - 200 mg) and had what he described as the "most intense euphoria" he's ever felt and compared it to ecstasy. And the euphoria lasted for 24 hours!

I didn't believe him until I did a search here and found that other people have had similar results. And until I tried it myself.

Not really a point to this thread, I just find it interesting how poorly these "abuse potential" studies are done.

benadryl is a abusable if you take 10X the dose.
The real problem is that someone would take 10X the dose, they are the abuser and the fact than many compounds will produce a high when you take huge amounts is not the problem.

In any case, Provigil is of low abuse potential,
hince it is scheduled IV due to this fact. No where does the monograph say it has no abuse potential.

I don't find it "interesting" but pitiful. I read so much on Provigil. Many compared it to caffeine.

I am suffering greatly because "non-narcotic" stimulant Provigil sounded safe to use. I don't have narcolepsy. I was rxed it cuz of fatigue.

The patient insert- that drug stores do NOT give you unless you ask for it- states that Proviil is reinforcing in monkeys previously taught to administer themselves cocaine.

It also gives anxiety when it wears off. So, people like me are now in HELL cuz I can't take Provigil without getting anxiety; so then we are rxed Xanax..and in my case, Klonopin on top of that.

So the stuff stops working for fatigue. Now wasted 2 yrs trying to get off benzos.

I never felt a mood lift. And my dr "didnt have a problem" with 600 mgs of Provigil. That crap is over 300.00 for 45 pills. All for nothing.

Guess I should've checked this board more often than the others. Your post helped me. Just sorry I didn't read what unconventional drug users had to say earlier.
