The oddity of my addiction

Posted by scratchpad on April 30, 2007, at 7:42:43

I'm back from a holiday where I visited several vineyards. I played Driver, and looked at the overpriced gift shop items, t-shirts, and sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed the views. Sat on benches and meditated. Soaked up sunshine and nothing else.
So strange. I didn't want any of what the wine tasters had. I knew that vintage, nose, colour, viscosity; all meant nothing to me. That one bottle might go down easier than another, but it was never, ever about how good the wine was. It was about where it would put me. Way way out of myself, far from everybody else.
I don't think I could have made this trip before now. I'm glad I was able to do this. I keep learning about my sober self every day. It's a wonderful thing.

I'm so glad for you that you were able to enjoy your holiday! It's a huge step and I admire you for it. I still don't like to be around people that are drinking.
