I'm Vodca free. Feeling great. Have not even wanted a drink, except for once, but didn't!

That's great! What are you doing instead of drinking? It has helped me to create new healthier habits to replace my old ones.
Like at the moment I am trying to remember to water my little garden before the rainy season takes over for me. I have a bad track record, although you'd be surprised how drought resistant some plants are...It's nice to see you back here, too.

I'm in the process of moving and cleaning. Also selling a lot on craigs list. Doing a lot of cooking and cleaning around my new home, with parents. Other than that, looking for a new job, interviews on Monday, yes been doing a lot of job searching. Hoping to get one with time warner cable. Exercise. Watching a little news, and rairly on babble the last little while.
I've almost quit smoking too, one ciggarette a day for the last few weeks. +3-4 lozenges a day. These new lozenges are excellent.

What makes one person an alcoholic and someone else not?
I think it's a question that we can only answer for ourselves. I knew that I was an a alcoholic even though I'd never missed a day of work, or ever had any ever say anything to me about it, or had a car accident, or lost my job, etc... because I found that drinking was just about the only thing I could think about. Where was the next one, when was the last one, what kind of quantity had I consumed (I always wanted to be "responsible" and even kept track of the calories). But I kept up the behaviour of drinking for 20 years - thwack! (that's the sound of me smacking my own forehead.) And when I remarried, well my DH was good enough to point out to me that I had a pretty bad habit going, and that it was eventually going to bring me down. I had already tried to stop drinking many, many times before, but on my own and without success. This time I got my DH's support, and my therapist's. So with a lot of help, and medication, I stopped altogether. It was the only way I could do it.
Some people do very well with drinking in moderation. There is a whole movement dedicated to it. Personally, I did moderation very poorly. The obsessive thinking brought me down every time, and made me miserable. You really have to see for yourself.

Wow. I could never get the hang of moderation. That's great! And I saw above that the lozenges are working for you for smoking. How are you feeling?

Quick update. Still taking lozenges and moderate drinking. Smoke one cig a day, and 1-2 drinks twice a week.
This is the end of the thread.
