How long will it take for my brain to heal?

Posted by cirrus6000 on August 19, 2007, at 20:01:21

How long will it take my brain to heal from Crack cocaine abuse? I work out almost every day. I have noticed the standard symtoms i.e. poor short-term memory, easily agitated, & irritablity. I want to go back to school next year, but I am not sure how great my retention of information will be.

One year is my best guess.

Is it only a guess or is that program talk? b/c I've heard the same thing around the rooms but I was hoping to get a more solidified answer

consider taking omega 3 fatty acids (e.g., fish oil) -- you have to take a lot, like 9 grams a day, but its been shown to cause brain cells to regrow.

Also, low doses of lithium regrow brain cells as well. If you think you might be bipolar (something like 80% of cocaine abusers are bipolar), you could get a script, but you dont need to take a therapeutic dose to get the neurogenerative benefits, so you could opt for lithium orotate (available at health food stores), and take about 30 mg of elemental lithium a day (varies by brand, but that works out to about 6 pills, or around 800 mg of lithium orotate).

I used to use cocaine daily for years, and the combination of lithium orotate and omega 3s brought me back from hell to basically normal in a couple months. YMMV

I have been taking Lecithin b/c it contains phosphodidyl-choline which is a precursor to acetlycholine one of the n.t.'s in the brain in addition I am also taking L-tyrosine to repair the damage i did to my dopamine levels in my substantia nigra. I also take the occasional Omega 3's in fish oil pills...Thank you so much your imput is greatly appreciated.
