Previously i have had excellent AD success with the drug ketamine, however, since commencing a trial of memantine and later riluzole (which ended in March) I now (and still!) have no response whatsoever to ketamine i.e. it doesnt make me hallucinate and it doesnt give me an AD response, it does nothing - no matter what dose i take.
Iv tested it and it is pure k, (the same stuff i took before). Has riluzole and/or memantine caused permanent brain changes??!! also after the riluzole i started getting depressed if i tried lamotrigine (too much sodium channel blockade).
If anyone could offer me any advice that would be great.
regards,
Rover

Hi,
Are you on any SSRI as well?
I have heard that SSRIs stop Ketamine from working as well.
I have treatment resistant depression and was thinking of trying Ketamine but I take 300mg of Effexor. Do you know anything about this?

Do you know anything about this? No, ssri's never worked for me - my symptoms seems to show dopamine deficiency and lack of GABA/ too much glutamate. It says on the internet you shouldnt take the two together but i cant actually see why there would be an interaction.
if you dont want hallucinations etc. take lamotrigine aswell, but i dont know if you can take that with ssri's.

It is interesting. I keep coming across danger of serotonin syndrome with regards to the use of Ketamine and/or ecstasy with SSRIs. Obviously we have all come across the AD effects of Ketamine recently and I am desperate to know as much as possible.
So you had (have) been using K for a long time. How long is that? Were you attracted to it because of the recent studies or you were a user before anyway?
Did you ever use SSRI(s) concomitantly with K? E.g. a trial period before you gave up on SSRI(s) completely?
Were AD effects dose related? If so how much was your usual dose? Did it creep up with time? Have you noticed any withdrawal symptoms?
Basically I would be most grateful if you gave me a full run down on AD and not AD effects of K.
I am determined to try it but obviously I want to take as much precaution as possible.
In fact I think Ill but in a new posting asking for contributions on the issue. But I would consider yours separately because of your Ketamine history!

If anyone knows user called Rover, can you pass this to him.
I am sorry to bother you but you posted a response to one of my queries regarding Ketamine for which I am grateful. There are not that many Ketamine users in this forum.
Would it be too much if I asked you to send me a response? You can send it to me directly (bbkmay59@hotmail.com) if you prefer.
I am getting progressively serious about trying out Ketamine because my life has been destroyed over the last 28 years of depression. I have tried everything; all sort of SSRIs, SNRIs as well as their combinations. I have also had seven years of therapy, I had quite a few ECT sessions until my heart got affected and the dr.s chose to stop them. They did have effect but it only lasted two months and I was fed up with the side effects. To honest I was glad that it had to come to a stop.
The last thing I have tried was VNS. I have had great results with it. Before VNS I was house bound and went through catatonic phases which were dangerous because I live alone. Anyway, VNS saved me but I am still not functional that is; I can't go back to work which is what I want. This is why I don't think I have a choice but to try yet another possible solution.
I have already got some and I am certainly not after anything other than information but how did you get hold of it? Did your doctor prescribe it?I would be grateful if you had look at my last posting and sent me as full as possible response.
Thanking you in advance
Babak

Rovers95 has disabled his babble mail, so I couldn't sent him a direct message.
