ridiculous, I am not a 'just say no' (or some version of that) commercial
I like pot dammit, it's just that I'll smoke it everyday if I have the chance
so much for moderation :-(

Here's a job opportunity....

Pot is at least available, but unfortunately many people do not find it fun.

Show them how.
Make a course out of it.
Charge them money.

You could become a shaman.

I could surely show them how to make it fun!!

I am very good at it. ;-)

I understand completely. I love weed! It makes you feel so peaceful and wonderful. But like you, if I have it, I will smoke it until its gone. No moderation. But I'm also like that with chips, cookies and candy. I can't keep them in the house because I will eat them all at once until they're gone. So I have to completely deprive myself, which sucks. I wish I could keep some weed around for a pleasant escape now and then, or some cookies for a nice occasional treat, but its just not something I can do.

Sorry, no answers here, just commiseration.

You haven't had any ideas on how you might go about this?

The traditional method would probably be something like a sweat lodge with some whipping with birch twigs (native america meets siberia) while smoking it. When the heat and the whipping stop the pot effect might seem like a relief.

I can't remember who told me this, but the story was they were at the top of one of those theme park rides...something like 'the big drop' or 'the tower of terror' and they are sitting on a platform hundreds of metres in the air waiting to go into freefall, and one kid turns to the other and says 'the acid's just coming on'.

I like your strategy.... start with the pain in order to enhance the feeling of well being experienced with the pot

what should the flyer say?

oh crap, that'd send me over the edge
I can't tolerate those kind of rides, let alone on a hallucinogenic.

I had the strangest dream the other night, I had taken mushrooms...the thing is though, they were just like regular mushrooms, they just happened to be in my food
and wherever I was, I was not supposed to be that out of it, so I was super self conscious
I've never done mushrooms by the way, and whatever little piece of paper I took that was supposed to have acid on it apparently didn't

my other theory is that my life is just one big acid trip, so I didn't notice the difference ;-)
ha ha

One time I smoked waaay too much pot, and I got sort of panicky (or at least claustrophobic) in this extrememly crowded bar so I had to go outside and hang out on the sidewalk.
It was halloween in NYC at a halloween parade, it was this surreal experience because there were crowds of people everywhere, everyone was dressed like someone or something else, and acting strangely, and I just remember this person yelling on the corner about something ridiculous, and I felt like I stared at that person for a really long time.
I didn't like that feeling, too twilight zone...that was too much for me.

In "Crumb" he explains that he took some bad acid in the 60s and thereafter (at least for months) he just drew what he saw. Sometimes I feel a little like that, which can be a worry.

yeah, I suppose I see that in his drawings, something in it is disconnected

you ever seen Henry Darger? I went to a documentary about him once, amazing stuff. He had a whole fantasy world.

I had no idea who Henry Darger was.

There is a song on the excellent "Motherland" by Natalie Merchant about him, but it never meant anything to me.

Thanks Sid.

Harpers once reprinted an army doctor's report on Jimi Hendrix, from his days in the army.

It said (more or less) that he was insane because he would not follow orders but went off to masturbate instead.

I found this

Private Hendrix plays a musical intrument

or so he says

It's priceless....

The individual is unable to conform to military rules and regulations. Misses bed check; sleeps while supposed to be working; unsatisfactory duty performance. Requires excessive supervision at all times. Was caught masturbating by members of platoon...he appears to be an extreme introvert.

Hendrix spent a total of 13 months in the army whilst playing guitar in a band when off duty.

His C.O. said: At times Hendrix isnt able to carry on an intelligent conversation, paying little attention to having been spoken to. One point it was thought perhaps Hendrix was taking dope and was sent to be examined by a medical officer with negative results. Private Hendrix plays a musical instrument during his off duty hours, or so he says. This is one of his faults, because his mind apparently cannot function while performing duties and thinking about his guitar...I recommend without hesitancy that Hendrix be eliminated from the service as expeditious as possible.

obsession certainly can yield some amazing results :-)
I've always liked "All Along the Watchtower"
I've got a Jimi Hendrix t-shirt, but doesn't everyone?

It's lovely to hear him speak:

'If I can remember the words'!

Where is Winterland anyway?
California?

There was a Jefferson Airplane record called '30 seconds over Winterland', IIRC.
