I'm thinking of asking my pdoc to switch me from 5mgs zyprexa to paxil as that's the only drug I have much luck with. Can I stop the zyprexa and start the paxil? Or should I wean off the zyprexa?
I tried tapering the zyprexa and I got really depressed the next day. Anyone try tapering zyprexa? I also have the problem of insomnia on paxil start ups which I don't look forward to, anything I can do about that?

You can take them both at the same time. So, what you should do is stay on 5 mgs of Zyprexa for the first 5 days or so of Paxil. Then have your doctor give you 2.5 mg tablets for the next 3 or 4 weeks. As you give Paxil time and get up to what was your therapeutic dose was before(it may be different now, if Paxil works again) you can drop the Zyprexa and hopefully avoid feeling depressed for too long or not at all. You may be able to get off Zyprexa even faster that 4 weeks, who knows.
