trapped

waiting for the floor to drop
whittling away the time
serving out a sentence
I can't wait....more,
for assurance, to arrive
to exhale
I've done my time, paid my dues
with no returns
but grief, dismissal
for all the work I spent my hopes in
driven
down, done

'Waiting for the phone to ring
feels like I'm made of ivory
had a funny call today
someone died and someone's married.'

Can you save up and move out?
I'm in a very nice hotel that costs $10 a night.
