neurotin

ok
the short version. I have had and do have panic disorder and depression. I have been successfully treated with xanax and Prozac. I go on and off the prozac as i feel i need it. The latest is that six months ago i was diagnosed with Crohns disease and am now taking prednisone and mesalamine! The pred has really done a number on me. Can't sleep at all. I have horrible pains in my hands and feet(that has been ongoing with the crohns but has gotten worse). Everytime I try to sleep I have tremors that keep me awake
and are really quite disturbing. My pshychiatrist has prescribed neurotin and i am trying to figure out what he has prescribed it for. Does it have a sedating effect? How will this drug help me? And will it be a problem with a digestive disorder? Thanks in advance...and by the way. I did a poll in the newsgroup I belong to (Crohns-colits support) and it seems about 40% suffer from panic disorder. Seems like there must be some sort of connection

Neurontin apparently has many uses: siezure control,
mood stabilization, and relief of neuropathic pain.
I've also read that it works for panic disorder and
anxiety in some people, so it may be a good choice
given the tragic array of symptoms you described
(sounds really awaful - hope you feel better soon!)

Sean.

I understand that it can help some people sleep if the not sleeping is mood related (or maybe they mean brain chemistry, I don't know). Just what I've heard, not sure about this.

Hope it works for you.
