new york psychiatrists????

Posted by karen on March 13, 2000, at 15:35:44

currently on no meds and heading for a breakdown, i have been on paxil and buspar( high dosages according to my doc-i can't remember exactly). i went cold turkey (i hate the idea of having to be on meds to be functional) in october and am now a mess. if i don't get fired it will be a miracle. i would sleep 27 hours a day if possible. i am miserable and see no change in my depression any time soon. last month i decided that i need to go back to a doc and and get back on meds. i was started on wellbutrin and things have never been worse. i cry constantly, sleep when i'm too tired to cry and never do any of the things i have always loved to do(go out with friends, go dancing, have sex, pretty much just leave my house)i don't know if it's the wellbutrin that does not agree with me or if it's the withdrawals from my old meds or if i'm just getting more depressed.
i need to see a good doctor in the new york area that can properly diagnose and medicate my condition. any suggestions?

If you can get to see Dr. Ivan Goldberg, I'll be incredibly jealous. Take care.

Wellbutrin makes me feel significantly worse. I have tried it a few times, and it always affects me the same way. I believe I have read here about some other people who have experienced the same thing. JohnL has posted some excellent stuff regarding how drugs can affect people so differently. What is one person's cure can be another person's poison. Do yourself a favor and read some of the posts JohnL has written. Look through last week's archive.

I think you are doing the right thing in seeking out another doctor.
