I am new here, am real glad to see someone else taking topamax. I take been taking 300mg plus 20mg of prozac. I have been on topamax for about 6 months for bipolar. It has less side effects than depakote and lithium. But it doesnt have that calming effect.

Hi, sherry! Welcome aboard! Your name, though, seems very familiar. Did you used to post?

Anyway, you might want to join our topamax party by clicking on this discussion thread of Topamax Experiences and adding to it! http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20001231/msgs/50878.html

Sherry,
I replied in the topamax thread just to keep that coherent, but I'll answer here too. I like the fact that topamax has less side effects but it is not very calming especially in stressful situations. I'm on 30mg of prozac and 125mg of topamax.

I'm new here, so perhaps this been mentioned, but perhaps you want to consider taking something like clonazepam for that "calming effect". I take a very small dosage of Topamax as a mood stabilizer, and 40mg of Celexa and 1.5mg of clonazepam as a general anti-anxiety agent. So far, so-so. Just a thought.

This is the end of the thread.
