Higher doses of Celexa (or other SSRIs)

Does anyone have some information about the use of higher doses of Celexa for treating depression?

Hi...

Yes, I have seen some case of high doses Celexa in refractary cases. Up to 120 mg for some instanse. You can be a rapid metabolizer, and then need exessive doses.

Often one makes a combo if Celexa monoterapi not is enough, with for exampel Remeron or Wellbutrin.

There is often no risk with high doses sssr regarding serotonin syndrom in monoterapi. I saw a patient with OCD using 120 mg celexa and 80 mg Buspar with excellent result, and no side effect.

Hi...

I haven´t say that Celexa or Zoloft are more effective than paxil for OCD.

There have been clinical trial on Celexa for OCD. And it works as well as Paxil in this respect.

What I try to say is that Celexa has less side effect than Paxil, and has minimal interaction with other medication.

The exampel, I mention about 120 mg Celexa was for an refractary OCD. The person still use the med, since OCD very often is a cronic illness, like reccurent depressen.

Of course CBT can be very usefull for some person with OCD, but in server cases one always need medication as the most importend treatment.

How peculiar...I had a psychiatrist named Michael D... or Dr.D... He said that patients often needed higher doses of Celexa, and at the higher doses they experienced the same side effects.

Hi...

One side effect that is differnt in higher dosage is sexual side effect. For exampel: 30 mg Celexa perhapes cause sexual side effect for 50%.
But in dosages range 80-100 mg it will give at least an 90% side effect freqency regarding sexual side effect.

Sorry for my bad spelling. Not from U.S

Sincerely...//Petters
