trazodone, concerta and metadate cd?

Posted by e503 on December 8, 2002, at 20:24:46

Is there any interaction between trazodone and ritalin? My daughter takes a small amount in the p.m. to help her sleep (25 mg.) and concerta during the day. For some reason i am thinking that the concerta is not helping as much as it had. She is 12 years old and takes 54 mg. I am thinking about possibly trying metadate cd. She is still very impulsive and the dr. says that that (54 mg.) is the max she can take. HELP!!! I am not sure if it has anything to do with the trazadone, or if the concerta just is not doing it anymore. Anyone have experience with metadate cd?

It sounds like the concerta became less effective just after starting on trazodone. Is that true? If so, maybe you should stop the trazodone and switch her to ambien for sleep. I know that trazodone causes day time drowsiness for many people who take it.

in retrospect, it may be a possibility. She has/had social anxiety and it seemed as though when she started the trazadone (25 mg.) it did help her with that very much......but maybe TOO much! Would that small a dosage interfere with the concerta? It doesn't really cause too much drowsiness during the day for her,,,,in fact now she gets a decent nights sleep (sometimes).

i take metadate cd twice daily. It only comes in 20 mg. time release capsules.Approx. 30 % is released immediately, the remainder over the course of the day In theory its supposed to last all day,but 8 hours is more like it,imo.Took concerta once and while purported to last about 12 hours,I think too this is an exageration. In all honesty generic ritalin sr seemed to work pretty much the same for me as the metadate(one 20 mg. tablet twice daily)but were all unique...

So what's really the difference between Ritalin LA and Metadate CD? Is it true that CD delivers 30% and then 70% 4 hours later? And that LA delivers 50% and then 50%?
