I'm new to Babble---discovered it just about a month ago----excellent site---thanks Dr.Bob! I am a medical professional--hospital pharmacist---who recently tapered myself off of Zoloft 200mg/day. I am now day #25 off of it and the withdrawal effects are essentially gone. However, they were miserable. Dramamine a couple of times a day helped the dizziness. I have started fish oil -- 2grams/day--and hard work-outs on my treadmill! Both strategies have worked wonders....almost too good--I have felt hypomanic at times. I, too, decided to end my ~8-year "relationship" with antidepressants due to ~20-25# weight gain. Zoloft was indeed the worst of the many I have been on with regards to weight.
Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts and thank Dr.Bob for this wonderful site. Very often the medical literature does not address the issues which are of great concern to people who have to take this stuff. This has been a great help to me! :)

-----------------Isn't it great? The "literature" is typically a few tables of adverse effects vs placebo that vary little from drug to drug, and don't make any real sense to the average user. Beyond that, they reflect the optomistic projections of the company that made the drug (only 8% experience sexual side effects!). I'd like to see a more organized version of something like this site, with specific drugs and drug combinations being the indicies, so one could easily reference common experiences at a glance. Something like erowid.com, but medicinal instead of recreational.

You're exactly right Eddie! The drug companies don't want to make known that their "billion-dollar babies" will make you gain weight and wreak havoc on your sex life! Unfortunately it's always about $$$$
