Serzone and Zoloft

Posted by Agate on November 13, 2003, at 19:08:35

Hi!
I've been taking Serzone for over 3 years. Due To the current concern about the drug, I have spent the last 2 weeks going off it. I was at 400 mg. Besides vivid dreams and dizziness, I have been OK. Now, the question is, what do I switch to? My doctor has suggest Zoloft. I have difficulty with anxiety, even panic attacks. Celexa increased my panic attacks noticeably. I would like to hear from anyone who has some experience - positive or negative - with Zoloft, especially its effect upon anxiety.
Thanks!
Agate

Agate,

I am an atypical case of GAD and Zoloft was so terrible for me It made me angry and so anxious. However i have many women friends that do great on it and it's such a widelly Rxed med with lots of data. Just like any new med the first few weeks "can" be the most side effect oriented. GOod luck

Yuck... Zoloft made my panic attacks much worse. I was on Serzone for a year and switched to Lexapro. Wow... Great stuff!! Only side effect was drowsiness. Its much softer than Celexa, easier to tolerate.

Yup.. I take remeron at night to help me sleep. Remeron has saved my life. When I have really bad panic/anxiety.. I take a little bit of remeron to calm me down and next thing I know I am peacefully sleeping. I personally think that Remeron works better than anything else for anxiety. You will feel a little drowsy the next day but big deal.. it really does wonders! Ask your doctor about it. I find that 15 mg is a little to strong (keeps me asleep for like 15 hours) so what I do is take a tiny, tiny, tiny piece... maybe 1 mg and it takes away all anxiety!
