Question without a good answer??

Posted by KellyD on November 18, 2003, at 8:16:56

I had put myself on a self imposed block from posting, but I just have to put this out there. Why do these meds (I'm into 2 weeks of Wellbutrin XL) make you feel so h*llish before they, HOPEFULLLY, will make you feel better? I know there isn't a good answer for this, but I'm frustrated. I'm to give it another 2 weeks and re-evaluate. Can anyone give me something positive, PLEASE, to keep me from just ditching this med as I have others. And yes, I've tried other AD's. Those SE's were intolerable. This trial isn't as bad, but I certainly don't feel alot better at this point and worse from an overall health standpoint.
Thanks for reading.

Hi KD
As you know I had every poss. SE with WB.
But I also had more energy after 2 weeks. I had mucle fatigue so I guess my energy was more the motivational kind I was looking for.
I have read other post as Im sure you have about others not seeing any effect for 4 or more weeks.
Like you if I dont see at least a positive response by the 3rd week, it seems a waste of time to keep enduring the SEs
You might be at the break thru point. Another week...?
best regards

I will stick it out for a bit more. Who knows, maybe the improvement phase is around the corner. Although I know the med is probably making me feel bad right now, I also recognize my depression talking in my "mind chatter" isn't helping either. With this depression, nothing feels very positive - including the light I'm shining on my responses to the med.
Thanks again.

Don't give up after only 2 weeks. Wellbutrin was very subtle for me. But when it worked, I was willing to pay full prescription price for it when I lost my insurance.

Good stuff.
