I never thought effx withdrawal would get this bad

Posted by slinky on December 12, 2003, at 18:21:59

The last pill is the hardest--I've only reduced by approx.20mg and the prozac ain't touching the pains/mood.I want to vomit and rip my head off.
I need to get down to 37mg so I can start another med--this other med expires in january04.
Oh poooooooo. I'm sick of this.

Hang in there.

I had the worst trouble getting off Effexor. I couldn't believe how bad I felt with every dosage change. It isn't easy but you CAN do it. Take it slow and know that once you're at 37.5, you are in the home stretch. You will go to 18.75 and eventually, this will be a bad memory and nothing more.

I didn't go on anything else so it may have been worse for me than it will be for you since I didn't have another medication to offset the symptoms.

I was/am on Xanax so I really amped that when needed (My doc said to) and it took about 6 weeks or more after the final pill to feel like myself (I had a slight manic episode after getting off Effexor, and never have had mania before. No fun at all!!!!).

Good luck. Just try to realize it will all get better in time and wait it out. I thought I would go out of my mind but here I am, still ... well, still alive and kickin' anyway :)

swishing brain zaps - what an excellent description (swoosh! I just had one!)I get those plus ear pulses. Hang in there, you can do this. It's been 123 hours since my last effexor and I assure you, I know what you are feeling. May I recommend benedryl and dramamine?

Hello Crazy you

Those normal well-ish balanced folk just don't
understand , nor docs.
Yeh I know about benedryl and dramamine
I've tried several times to give up..but this time I'll win ..
the first 150mg was ok with prozac apart from my transformation into a rabid monster.
Anyway, twas a very helpful drug in the begining.
Wish you well fellow sufferer.
