Hello everyone.
I just started taking 1mg Klonopin (for social anxiety) as needed or I might start taking it daily at low dose 0.5 mg for a couple of trial weeks. Does it lower ones intelligence and brightness? Does it slow you mentally, poor concentration and so on ???
Strange, heard some where that it speeds up the mind !
What do you think?

I don't know about speeding up the mind, but it can eliminate mental "background noise". I find it does make me a slight bit slower in thought, nothing I can't cope with.

Yes, it certainly slows me down. Just test my typing speed when I'm on it or not! I find that I'm willing to tolerate the slowness when the anxiety is so bad that I can't think or work anyway. When it isn't, the slowness is irritating. It helps balance my use of the drug, I think.

Klonopin definitely has some cognitive dulling effects. The key is to find the lowest possible dose that provides therapeutic effect, especially when dealing with benzos.

I find my thinking much clearer with Klonopin, probably because I don't have to deal with frequent, overwhelming anxiety and worry. I'm hardly stress-free, but at least it doesn't escalate to the point where it dominates my life any more. Klonopin did make me a bit sleepy and clumsy for the first week or two, but this disappeared quickly. This seems to be pretty standard for many users -- some dulling at first, then tolerance to these side effects with continued anxiety relief.

My reaction is similar to viridis, I had initial cognitive slowing for about 2 weeks, then with the absence of panic attacks and anxiety I've been much clearer. I take 6mg/day.

Take it twice a day, rather than once, to have lower peaks and higher troughs of concentration of the drug.

I have been taking Klonopin for almost three years. Both my work and my hobbies require absorbing, remembering, and applying large amounts of complex information. I have noticed no cognitive or memory impairment of any kind since starting the Klonopin.
