pro-social augumentation, klonopin not enough.

What legal adjunct can be added to eliminate the a-sociability that us social phobics have? Klonopin doesn't seem to add anything pro-social.

I've heard mention of Provigil, various psychostimulants such as a Adderall, and dopaminergics like amisulpride.

In my case, 2mg/day Klonopin has anxiety under control. In an unexpected social encouter or impromptu business meeting, anxiety is not present. I'm just tired of life without a girlfriend or significant social interaction, and something pro-social is needed to change this.

When I was on adderall for ADD several years ago, I noticed that a really nice side effect was I felt tremendously sociable, which is extremely unusual for me. My shyness all but disappeared and I actually sought out social interaction. However, after a little while on the med those effects lessened quite a bit. And then I had to go off Adderall completely because of negative side effects (irritability and obsessive skin picking).

Good lucj finding something, I am searching as well. Unfortunately my pdoc won't prescribe any benzos so Klonopin is out.

I've just started clonazepam (0.5 mg twice daily) and dextroamphetamine (5 mg thrice daily) today, added to my existing sertraline (200 mg per day). This is for major depressive disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and social phobia. Too early to say what doses of the new two I'll end up requiring.

So you're prescribed dextroamphetamine. That's what my doctor derogatorily calls SPEED. Not too many doctors who prescribe SPEED, are there? I'm having a hard enough time getting her to prescribe Provigil. Unfortunately, there are no studies I am aware of that show benzo + stim is the best route for Social Anxiety sufferers. There are studies for clonazepam and nardil, at least. I guess I'll have to wait for Cymbalta, hoping it does the trick with the added NE effects.

Have you tried an SSRI?

SSRI's seem to be very good for taking the edge off of social anxiety. I'd try Prozac first, since it seems to have the best side effect profile.

I'll try Cymbalta if/when it is approved, since it possesses NE reuptake inhibition. I have tried Serzone and klonopin simultaneously, which made me rather belligerant. Perhaps low dose Prozac augmentation may help.
