Depakote and the bowels..

Posted by Spriggy on March 8, 2005, at 12:13:22

Okay... SO since my body odor post was NOT the most embarrassing, I thought I'd try this again.. ha ha.

Anyone else notice on Depakote they have more frequent "bm's?" Forget the Bm stuff, I'm a mother of two young sons', let's just call it what it is.. POops.

I am not a fairly regular person ( a few times a week) but after taking Depakote 3 times, I am going several times a day.

Is there a relation or did I just embarrass myself for no apparent reason?

Yes it is a side effect of valproate. I remember when i was taking it. Don't worry, it will eventually wore off.

Do you take something else with Depakote? Because by itself Depakote is "often" depressiogenic.

Anyway, bonne chance and drink a lot of water.

Bye.

Okay remember I'm a blonde.

So could you elaborate on the word "depressioniogenic?"

I assume you mean can cause depression or enhance it??

How much depakote are you taking Spriggy? Remember a side effect of any drug is constipation or diarrhea. Fondly, Phillipa

It's not a problem, it's actually a nice change to not feel plugged, if ya know what I mean. lol
