After a year and one half on various meds some of which are not listed below, I finally gave in to trying Zyprexa at 2.5 mg per day for anxious depression. Within two days I felt normal and stayed that way for nine weeks. During the nine weeks I reduced some of the meds from the cocktail listed below. Then all of a sudden I appear to heading back to the symptoms prior to the start of Zyprexa. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cocktail at start of nine weeks and current
Start/ Current
Xanax 3.5 mg/ 1.75 mg
Cymbalta 60 mg/ 60 mg
Paxil 15 mg / 7.5 mg
Cytomel 35 mcg/ 0 mg
Lunesta 0 mg / 3 mg
Caffeine none/ Some coffee and diet colas
Alcohol none/ A little wine during week nineRegards,

I would say that because of the mechanisms of zyprexa (monaminergic antagonist) it stands to poop out less then some other meds do.
I don't hear a lot about zyprexa poop out.

yes isn't it irritating? But it's not because of it being a CNS depressant. The depression seems to come from metabolites or loss of crucial substances

You could increase the other meds back up to where they were. Or you could increase zyprexa up to 5mg.
I was fine on 2.5mg zyprexa for about 3 months, but eventually it did seem to poop out at that dose, which is just a starter dose anyway. After going up to 5mg, I've been fine ever since without any further poop out. It's been 2 or 3 years at that dose for me.

Hi Bob.You might as well try adding back one or two drugs at a time and see if you can recapture the antidepressant effect. Looking at what you had taken, I think I would add back the cytomel and Paxil.

I agree with this. I didn't see the dosage that you had taken initially. Still, I would add a few things back while increasing the Zyprexa. Don't take any chances for further deterioration. What's the big deal? You can always try removing things again.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I know they are options for me. However, with regard to poop out, why would you continue to take any med that has pooped out? That's how I came to reducing Paxil. I took it years ago and stopped. Felt great for a couple of years, then went downhill again. This time around it didn't work. I asked my p-doc, if I could reduce Paxil and he didn't want even in light of the year and one half of hell. Zyprexa worked in one day. I took it and felt normal for nine weeks as I mentioned from day one. Now I am heading south again. Is it possible that Zyprexa works only when taken with something else, Paxil even though it didn't work alone, works with the combination of Zyprexa? I suspect that this setback has really gotten to me. I worry about increasing the Zyprexa, diabetes, etc.
