Hi ,
I am venkat.I am suffering from obsessive ruminations and anixety disorder.Recently my doctor had prescribed me to resperdal for a week . I became insane after taking that and was on the brink of suicide.I could not exert myself to do even a simple task anyone can do . I lost all the will power and interest in things .I remained numb and felt very painful all over the body.Is Resperdal(0.5mg) a good drug for obsessive ruminations?.My main concern is that these obsessive ruminations over trivial matters ,with a hell lot of thoughts crowding my mind in no time ,is eating away my potential for any productivity.
I want to know whether this is just a temporary state and will it improve if the dosage is taken over a long period?

It would want to improve, wouldn't it?
I'd put up with the ruminations any day, if that's the choice.
Maybe you could lower the dose?

AD dose=.5-2mgs
AP dose=4-12mgsSure it's a D2 receptor blocker, but also blocks 5ht-2 receptors, responsible for improving irribility, agression, psychosis.
It has quietened my mind on needed occasions.

Sort of:SThanks Phillipa-you are a true Angle to many here! you seem to care, in a world which doesn't give a damn!
I have posted of my issues with high dose Ritalin use, where i'd binge and stay up all night, but upon seeing a Psych Doc, he gave me Dexamphetamine 5mg tabs, (Dexedrine 20mgs daily)-no go, made me sick.
I am prone to (Hypo)manic tendencies, and i basically treat myself.

No, you are!-you are a 'holding the fort' person for PB and assist many people in tough times. Your guidence alone was what bought me through my troubles some months ago, and for that Jan God bless you:). (althought you could have Babble-mailed some more)-:)There are no doubt nuremous others here who you have assisted-reasured-comforted, and that makes you a PB MUST HAVE OK?-you are too valuable too lose and you bring reasurance to many here-a very worthwhile job, even thou you are troubled by your own afflicitions, makes you all the more a lady of salvation.
I'm in a positive/healther mood today as i received the medicine i need, from my Doc, a happily satisfactory daily reguime of Xanax+Valium. This from a guy who consults in a recovering addictions treatment facility, and leactures at the Medical University on addiction medicine.
Cheers Jan!

Hi,
thank you very much for the reply.
I got vexed with so many tablets with out any effect on my obsessive ruminations that i now have lost faith in psychiatry.I have stopped taking medication as it does not matter whether i take them or not, they don't bring in me any kind of change. So,can anybody tell me how to cope up with this situation .Seems it might help me if you can provide me with the links about similar cases who were able to cope up their situation using medication .
thanks
kishore
