Hello All,
My pdoc just switched me from 1mg Lorazepam 3x/day to 1mg clonazepam 2x/day. This seems to be a big increase in terms of overall diazepam equivalent dosage, correct? Does anyone have comments about lorazepam vs. clonazepam in terms of subjective experiences?

Lorazapam sounds familiar. Is that the generic name for Ativan or Xanax?

Yeah it's avitan.
According to http://www.benzo.org.uk/bzequiv.htm
It's only equiv to a 10mg increase in diazepam anyway.

Ativan and Xanax have more of an immediacy panic attack stopping effect than Clonazepam, personally -- Klonopin is rather subtle. But everyone has a different need for different benzodiazepines. I prefer to save the immediacy effect ones for when they're needed but then I've kind of acclimated to most benzodiazepines.

Me too but I remember when ativan or lorazepam used to relax me very quickly and felt fine. Klonopin usually depressed me. Klonopin is a long acting benzo and ativan has a shorter half life. I didn't read the articles probably covered there. Phillipa

Hi
The 'equivalent' doses for benzos are an extremely vague guide. They should not be taken too seriously. The only way to find a suitable dose of clonazepam will be by trial and error, increasing or decreasing the dose in small steps until you find the dose which works best for you.
The usual dose range for anxiety is 0.25mg to 4mg per day. Many people take around 1mg per day.
