Emerging from depths

Posted by ralphrost2 on December 4, 2009, at 8:19:30

Hi mates,

I feel that depression is perhaps cleaning here. My current regimen has helped tremendously with my memory, cognition and apathy. It's amazing how now I can easily remember things. However it seems that there are some symptoms left. It is quite hard to socialize because I simply got used to behaving differently (withdraw), long time ago.

But this main symptom feels like depression leftovers. The fact that one part of me is awake again might not mean that this is my normal self. Now I ask, should we medicate every bit of symptom left or we are supposed to actively deal with those things? Therapy, let's say.

As I read once in one text, depression is basically a "defect in sociability". It makes much sense.

Any thoughts?

Ralph

Although I never heard that before it kind of makes sense to me. Are you out and about? I'm reclusive here unless with someone. Might try posting this also on the psychology board? Different perspective? Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,

I currently have a job that I really like. I'm new here, so part of the anxiety is because of that.

What I constantly try to understand is what part of the symptoms is disease that should be treated with medication and what should be treated as psychological. Maybe there is no way to separate things, but this has practical implications on how I'll have to handle it.

This whole mental health thing seems like a complex and ever-changing puzzle.

therapy can be a minefield, if you are working an functioning well that good,i dont work now//to damaged, but socialize easy inough . But i also like my own company, as many with this illness do,stay safe.

For me it was relieving the stress which allowed me to once again live my life and accomplish things, go to school, bring up my kids. Now 40 years later they are making me tired benzos that is. Phillipa
