Does poor nutrition neg effect Dexedrine efficacy?

Posted by zarathustra on December 11, 2009, at 23:12:11

I am fully aware its not healthy to do, but I have eaten nothing in two days, aside from many coffees. It got me to thinking about the appetite suppresion of Dexedrine. Does the resulting poor nutrition and food intake effect the metabolism and efficacy of the medication? I wonder because, after finally eating a giant submarine a few hours ago, and then taking dexedrine shortly after, that the drug was somehow different: Definately less anxiety, better focus than when I was not eating, and maybe a little more cheerfull. (It could be a sort of psychosomatic response, because I was looking for it, but I dont think so bec it was significant). Given that the appetite suppression I experience on 60mg TID is quite strong, I assume I should be making it a priority to eat well.

Any thoughts?

My diet has changed completely--there are periods that some could call true anorexia at least once a day when food just holds no appeal. And, oddly enough, I have been eating better. I need to eat three squares, or at least two, including protein. I need to stay "grounded' and not spin out.

Yes, make it a priority to eat well and regularly. Extra VitB and NAC

If this is what was in the diet pills in the 60's I took one month of them and lost weight just continuous movement. Thankfully the doc only wrote for a month and I took one every other day. In retrospect I was the thinnest in my life. Phillipa

Always take them on an empty stomache. If you have a problem forgetting to eat - no problem - it doesn't kick in for about an hour...so take the dex, then eat afterwards..it works better that way.
