Posted by B2chica on August 31, 2011, at 15:55:06

my anxiety has been SOOO bad this last week.
and the last three days i have been EXTREMELY....aroused. like right now, during the day, at work...Crazy!
i'm about ready to jump someone here...
it just seems like its co-occuring with my anxiety

is this a bipolar thing?

Oh my goodness. I imagined the perphenazine and whatever else would have damped it down. Perhaps it is the bipolar thing? Does it make you anxious as such? I mean, sex is a part of life.

My guess is that your anxiety might be linked with your menstrual cycle. It would make sense. I have heard of other people who are so anxious they can barely move and yet they still are horny.

I think it might be a bipolar thing.

Along with any perfectly logical reasons to feel irrationally lusty.

The anxiety. What does yours feel like?

Does it feel also like high energy jumping out of your skin not sitting still mind in multiple directions?

Yup. My therapist says it's not all that unusual. When you think about it, it makes sense. When you're in a state of high anxiety, your nerves are extra extra sensitive. You are aroused in all sorts of ways. For me, it's not really a directed thing. I don't feel particularly lusty precisely. Just aroused.

It's one of my clues that I'm getting a bit hypomanic. That and not sleeping.

Risperdal helps.

i am normally kinda prudish. i mean my thoughts are there but when it comes down to it my history gets in the way of 'action'.
but today especially, Honestly i was ready to jump the next guy that entered my office!!! it was bad. i mean i was really ready to have an affair and totally ruin my marriage and mess up my family and something i could never forgive myself for.. but then again maybe when it came actually to it i wouldn't have done it?
maybe i need more perphenazine? im at really low dose (tranquilizer) at 2mg BID.

Lepus i completely agree that i think this IS related to my menstrual cycle. I just am SO aroused i hate to say this outlaid but i get totally wet when i'm around one particular guy at work. were really close, he's like my best friend and we actually broke a boundry and talked about sensual things sat night.i think that kick started it. now when im around himwhen quite frankly i want to JUMP him. (man this is embarrassing).

it sounds like a typical bipolar thing, but vie just never be that severe before. i couldn't even pay attention to my boss as i was fantasizing about some guy and me getting it on the caressing, the kisses, biting his buttons off and ripping off his clothes!..wow i beter stop.

i have two types of anxiety, one in my head and one in my gut. this one has been all in my gut and body, fear the extreme butterfly in tummy sensation, almost to nausea. but no energy (other than wanting to jump someone)

i think i can be pretty sexual demanding at times. its like i'm someone else at those times though. someone with extreme confidence, i'm demanding and almost forcefuli do believe this has to do with hormones and cycle.

thing is, i keep fantasizing about having an affair with a doctor, one of my doctors, or a new therapist. you know something safe. where i KNOW he wont tell anyone.

Dinah i like what you said about the nerves being extra sensitive. i do have hyperarousal about things around me.
but everything else isnormal. no sleeping issues, just anxiety in my gut and throughout my body. nervous wrek everything makes me freak out, overreact. cant make decisions.

*******************

i really want to thank you for all your comments.
and you extreme sensitivity. i was embarrassed to even post it. cuz this is NOT how i am. its not me. but its SO strong.
lets just say i set the kids up with a movie and dragged my hubby into the bathroom tonight. i couldn't stand it.
he didn't seem to have a problem with it :) so all is good for now
i sure hope its not this bad tomorrow. i'm so afraid that i cant control my actionsits that bad.

i called pdoc but cant get in till sept 12thso who knows what state ill be in by then.

thank you all.

*Could* be a bipolar thing... but could also be your age. How old are you? Getting close to 40 can unleash a world of lust in a woman. It hit me at 38.. and it`s been wonderful ;-)

I think that can be a variant of hypomania. It doesn't have to feel good. No trouble sleeping though?

I always take it as a little notice that I need to watch out for it.

But then as I say, it doesn't hit me with mental or emotional desire, just physical hyperarousal across the board, including sexually. Risperdal, watching my sleep patterns, and if possible addressing the cause of my anxiety are helpful to me. And eventually this too shall pass.

ive had trouble getting to sleep but only because of my anxiety. but this last week or so its been so bad i'm doped up on gabapentin and xanax so bad that i drop by 10:00.

last night i was trying to post but i could barely even see the keyboard...literally. due to the amount of "over" medication i had in me. plus a couple beers.
and thats kinda how its been.

All I can say is this:

Wellbutrin revved up my libido while at the same time giving me unworldly anxiety and at times, panic attacks and rage. If you think what you said was embarrassing, I was taking breaks several times a day at work to go to the bathroom and well.. you know :P

The brain is a strange organ.

thank you for that.
if our bathroom were a little more private i think i would had done the same! and like you said...several times.

maybe my body is getting used to the level of perphenazine and i need to up it?

i made appt with pdoc (again) but cant get in till the 12th.
im sure my problem will be long gone by then. but i guess ill just keep trak and tell him and ask him waht to do next time.

thanks :)

Ha! I'm not kidding - it was somewhat sudden - and hit me like a ton of bricks! On on hand it was welcome, but on the other - at times it drove me nuts! Pro'ly behind the 'cougar' phenom.. It was pretty intense for a few years, and then subsided enough that I didn't feel like what I imagined 17 year old boys felt like ;-)

lol. i just used the 17 year old boy example with a friend of mine. makes me really feel bad the guys.
talk about uncontrollable.
today is a little better but i think mostly on the anxiety level.
if i was a 10 in the arousal department the other day today i'm at a 7.

Strange...I have suffered all my life from a similar problem- persistent sexual arousal. Even as a little kid. I have always suffered from general arousal and mood disorders as well. Diagnosed now as schizoaffective...would that mean I may have been bipolar as a kid? Has anyone ever heard of chronic arousal to that extent?
