Hi.. have been on Topomax 400 mil for the past 5 years now after putting down the psycho pills like prozac and lexapro etc and will never pick those up again Topomax has been a good med for me, albeit I am falling into a deep depression again. Topomax is great for my panic and at least stabalizes me and it got me back to my normal weight after the SSRI's made me fat which did nothing more then depress me more. I now am deciding to take Wellbutrin but am a real skeptic.
I need a little help from anyone who may take this medication.So having said that, anyone out there take Topomax with wellbutrin? If so I would love to hear from you about weight gain if any. I have fought really hard to keep my weight off and will fight my depression without the meds if I have to, although its getting really tough! I am very depressed right now and have very little interest in doing much. Many life changes although I know myself and realize what is happening. I am 61 am told I look 45 :) and am all of about 118 lbs.. without energy anymore to take care of my diabetic self... not good.Yep ... surprsingly fell diabetic last year... hmmmm never know...
Soooo Psycho Babble friends any and all responses on this thread will be greatly appreciated. Dr Bob??

Well, Wellbutrin does not cause weight gain and is not related to SSRIs. It can help depression but some people find that it makes them feel a bit agitated.

Wellbutrin can be very stimulating. For some strange reason I appeared hypomanic on it and ended up in hospital. Not good for anxiety in my opinion and the benzos didn't stop this response. Phillipa

Wellbutrin does not carry the risk for weight gain most SSRIs do. It may be a good combo for you.

you may find it pushes the anxiety up a bit. Topamax at that dosage might keep that under wraps though.
Ive taken topamax at smaller doses and its the only thing thats ever helped with my carbohydrate cravings.
