Did Everyone Get A Call When Robin Williams Died?

Posted by babbler20 on August 19, 2014, at 21:55:56

I had two family members call me just to chat randomly when Robin Williams died? These people never call me just to chat. Did anyone else get a call?

well kinda yea. 2 days ago I mentioned the film Awakenings to an American friend who informed me he had died. Does that count? Which day did he die? Sorry for my ignorance, I never watch TV so am late with the news, most of which I don't want to know about anyway) Great film. I have the book too by Oliver Sacks (the real Doc's name I guess), and another of his books The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat. Great reads.

May he rest in peace.

My brother who never calls me did. And Yea because I'm bipolar and RW was one of the guys they always mentioned in hospitals as a person who was successful w the illness.

Nice gesture (I guess). I try not to identify with my illness all of the time and kinda would rather he call just to say hello rather than only when he feels the world may have me thinking bad thoughts.....

Yes, I had a terrible, triggering day. Reached out for help. One friend who called me started bawling just like me. We were both hysterically upset at the sudden loss.

I am still depressed. Identify too closely with the circumstances - recent rehab, addict, depressed, and have had suicidal feelings. I am OK now, but not in the least normal.

I figured there were others that got calls as well. It's unfortunate that such a tragic even triggers people to think of those they know that are at risk. The family members that called me were obviously checkin in because the suicide made them think of my struggles, but they tried to play it off like that wasn't the reason.

Yes, I got a call from my sister in law and was quite surprised as she doesnt normally call me. It then occurred to me that was the reason why. Well, at least someone cares....

It's always nice to know people care. I just feel like sometimes, people just think of me as that crazy family member who is depressed an anxious for no reason.
