Worn out from campaign now

Posted by fayeroe on August 5, 2008, at 12:27:41

and we have weeks and weeks to go.

How did our nation get into such a mess?

Lies, smears, defensive tacts, offensive tactics and stuff that I don't EVEN want to know about now.

I can see why some people don't vote. They are bound to think that it won't make any difference in the bigger scheme of things.

Shaking head and heading out to wash dishes. That is something that I can do something about!

I wish November would hurry up already and get this over with.

PC, do you believe that these ads will sway people to change their minds? I find it an enormous waste of resources to flood the airways with "he said, she said" baloney.

Couldn't they set up a charitable foundation with the billions they are spending?

Each town could have a potluck and the different parties could grin at one another and that would be the END of it.

Vote in November!

I can't believe that there are many people who are undecided and that will be swayed one way or another by the type of ads that are being run. (If they are, then I'm not sure how I feel about how they make up their minds about these things.)

I hold very strong political beliefs - but, incredibly, I cannot vote. I'm a Canadian citizen, living here as a resident alien. It's a long story, but basically my mother's family paid a high price for their citizenship rights, only to have them snatched away through the circumstances of WWII. The family was split up and scattered in displaced persons camps, and resettled after their original homestead was claimed by the invading country. My mom has always made it really clear that being Canadian was pretty special to her. Neither I nor my sister have ever pursued US citizenship, and I've lived here more or less since 1983.

Probably more than you cared to know.

But just so you know that I care about what goes on in the place where I've chosen to live and am very interested - but at the end of the day, won't be able to effect any change myself. But that's entirely by my own choice as well.

I am with you on how I would feel if I thought they made up their mind after watching an ad with two HOllywood blondes in it. :-)

You have a very interesting story about your roots. I think it's really good the way your mom felt about things. I'm glad you told me.

Look, if this lot go, it will be big.

Think of the structure you will lose.

Feelings and thoughts with nowhere to go.

And it will be no good looking to Australia.

Even Troy Buswell has resigned, in a regrettable failure of nerve.

He was asked 'Mr Buswell, why do you sniff women's seats?'

And 'How do you feel now?'

I really miss Downer, Ruddock and Howard. More than I had ever thought possible.
