I would like some input, please, on what anyone knows or has experienced or whatever on the notion of administering amphetamines to 'attack' neg. symptoms in schiz, or schizaffective. It's well known that schiz people should not take speed, dopamine - speed makes the sane psychotic! But, if a neuroleptic just happens to be working on the 'disruptive' receptors, cannot amphetamines work (as well as being 'blocked' from these receptors) on different receptors. Also, the different areas of the brain - one may lack dopamanergic activity in one place, and may need to suppress it , for example in the basal ganglia. With the advance of receptor specific neuroleptics, is there any promise in amphetamine usage in relieving negative symptoms? Any?
