Regarding my earlier post - I saw my Doc and discussed the possiblity of adding a stimulant to current meds (Welbutrin, Trazadone, Nurontin). As I expected, he was very much against this due to the dangers of addiction and etc. He only uses them in verfy rare cases. I gave him the name of the article and towards the end of our session he said maybe he needed to re-visit this. I don't think he will reconsider though as his views on stimulants include "people getting mugged carrying stimulants" and a "high street value".
He added effexor to the mix (37.5 mil to begin with) and said for me to try this for 2 weeks (he stated that this drug has a very quick reaction, 2-3 days). Two days after I started this med. I dropped very low contemplating suicide because of helplessness, etc.) Suicide thought was fleeting but I cried all day and stayed in my room. Energy level low.
Yesterday and day before I felt ok but still fatigued. Today, back down again (not as bad as before).
Doc said if this drug didn't work, he wanted to refer me to a fybromyalgia expert, stating that I didn't appear clinicaly depressed and that my continued problem with fatigue could be another factor. I have researfched the fybromyalgia and I don't think this is it. I am very confused now not knowing what is wrong with me, am I just depressed, bi-polar (as my mood shifts every 2-3 days and also during the day), or what?
I have been in therapy many times with no real results. Since othe rmeds have worked and then "pooped out", I think a med. could be the answer if I could just find the right one.
Again, I have been on them all!
Thanks for your time, I can't tell you how much this means to me that you take the time to help.
As far as a Dr. referral to work with me on the stimulant route, I live fairly close to Greensbor/ Winston Salem NC
