Zyprexa and side effect

My twenty year old son is on Zyprexa, but not very compliant....recently he took it for 7 days straight, a new record, but became very irritable and belligerent
on them, even violent. He has been off them a week now, and even though he hears voices, is much easier to live with. I am confused. Any help here?
He take 10mg, one pill at night.
