Inspiration at its pinnacle. Hey, wasn't
Longfellow Manic-Depressive, too?
I wasn't looking for Longfellow, but, today, I
happened to run across a printout of some of his
poems and happened to find the poem in question
that has caused fur to fly here. This is it :LOSS AND GAIN (from Ultima Thule, Part II)
When I compare
What I have lost with what I have gained,
What I have missed with what attained,
Little room do I find for pride.I am aware
How many days have been idly spent;
How like an arrow the good intent
Has fallen short or been turned aside.But who shall dare
To measure loss and gain in this wise?
Defeat may be victory in disguise;
The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.
Henry Wadsworth LongfellowPlease, don't flame me. I'm just sharing the
poem in it's entirety for those who have never
read it before (like myself). I have no intent
of implying anything. Peace, love, and
occassionally, a little happiness.
