My mother-in-law suffers from what I believe is Trichotillomania. She pulls her hair out of her head and persists to chew on it. When asked about her actions, she reacts as though she didn't know she was doing it. I've encouraged her to seek professional advice but she refuses. While this alone is frustrating, I fear for her life as she has occasion to gag and sometimes choke on her own hair. Does anyone have any advice on how to help (either the symptoms or the disorder)?
Thanks in advance!
John
