Have you already chosen a therapist? Some will have a freebie introductory session so you can feel each other out and see if it would work. Victoria put it very well. I would add that psychotherapy can also help you relate to the world better. Sometimes that means behavioral type changes, in addition to viewing things differently and feeling better about yourself. It's an awfully broad question, so I hope you don't get confused by the the conceivable answers. I do think a crucial part is finding the right therapist, it is a unique relationship and just like any relationship, not any two people are meant for each other. Would you like to give any more details?
