First Day, I hear you. I've recently been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. I have not as many problems with the "ups and downs" of the disorder as the panic attacks I have (at any given moment). My nurse practictioner (who does my meds) says I am too "up" and that's why I have the panic attacks. I also can't sleep worth anything...when I get to sleep (eventually) I can't stay asleep. It's hard to do anything or go anywhere by myself anymore. I am taking 875 mgs of Depakote and 1/2 of a .25mg pill of Xanax three times daily. My doc wants me off the Xanax and I am scared of having seizures. I've been on the Xanax since late March. My therapist (whom I have only seen once) recommended a stress and relaxation workbook, which offers good suggestions, but I still seem to be paranoid. I don't know what to do, and frankly, I feel extremely useless in most things. I don't know which way to go, my nurse (drug person) says I am doing much better, but I tell you, when nighttime comes around, and I am alone in my apartment, I get scared, like a kid who wants the lights left on. I hate living like this. I hope you find what you need, and when you do, let the rest of us know so maybe I can get some help too. If anyone else out there knows what I'm talking about, or can help, please do!!
