Years and years ago, before prozac became wildly
popular, I was prescribed disipramine for depression.
I remember my depression lifted, but I only took it
for a month. That's because when I went back to the
doc and he said "so how'd it go?" I said "pretty good--
I think I'm feeling better. I feel lightheaded and
prickly sensations on my scalp sometimes, but I definately
feel better"...He said "well I might have something
even better--there's a new drug called prozac". And I
went on it and did fine. Except I was young and inexperienced
and not in a romantic relationship, so I wasn't really
aware of the sexual side effects. Now, years later
I've tried many of the ssri's and have had sexual side
effects with all of them.
I know the trycyclics claim sexual dysfunction too, but
I don't distinctly remember it like I do with prozac.
I'm wondering if I should give disipramine a whirl again.
Anyone try it? Anyone not have sexual side effects?
The SSRI's are famous for sexual dysfunction--maybe
tricyclics have more side effects in other areas, but
aren't as bad for sex?
