To all with depression or bipolar: How bout some FREE info on meds, psychotherapy, clinical trials, and more? It's available. Most areas have groups you can join that meet weekly, kind of like Alcoholics Anonymous. It is free, though they appreciate a donation. Weekly you can expect to: 1) Hear a guest speaker, a local expert. 2) Discuss with others just like you what's going on. 3) Learn from others like you the best pharmacies, best doctors, in the area. 4) Learn about clinical trials you might want to participate in. 5) Pick up tips from others just like you on psychotherapy and pharmacology. 6) Learn all kinds of helpful things you never imagined. 7) Experience the therapy of knowing others who fight the same battles as you. Have you had a hard time talking to friends or family about your condition? They can't seem to understand no matter how hard they try? Great comfort, healing, and tips can arise from spending a couple hours every week with people in the same boat as you. In my area, I called a HELP number to get in touch with National Depressive and Manic Depressive Association which meets weekly as described here. Check around, you will likely find a wealth of tips and support in a similar local group specializing in depression. This isn't meant to sound like an ad or a plug for any organization, just a note to let you know there is so much more help out there available that some sufferers aren't aware of. Gain tips, face to face, from others, a lot like we do here at this great site. Many thanks, by the way, for Psycho-Babble and Pharmacology Tips. This has got to be the most awesome resource center in the world for those of us struggling with mental illness. JohnL.
