> I am currently taking Celexa for mild depression, and it working fine, except for the sexual dysfunction. I am also taking Lamictal for atypical facial pain, which is also working fine for that. I have just discovered some info on the web about Lamictal being used in depression, although most of the cases involved bipolar depression. Just wondering if anyone out there has heard of or used Lamictal for mild depression. I would love to drop the Celexa.

> Thanks, LilaLila, it might work! There have been folks here saying that Lamictal was the only thing that helped their depression, and I heard rumors that the drug is being studied for use in unipolar depression because of anecdotal evidence in practice. There is a lot of encouraging experience with Lamictal in the real world for treating depression of all kinds (not just mild or bipolar).
I take a small dose of it too with my AD, and it nearly eliminates my bad tinnitus, relaxes my bladder for fewer trips to the bathroom, and may even be protecting me from sexual side effects of the AD, in addition to boosting the AD's effectiveness on depression. In my limited experience with Lamictal, I find it to be a wonderful drug capable of providing a wide array of benefits.
It may well indeed be effective on your depression all my itself (it has been for others, you wouldn't be the first), but to be safe I would wean off the Celexa very slowly. Talk to your doc about it, maybe bring him/her evidence you found on the web.
Not sure what info you found, but if you haven't done it already, try this: click on "tips" at top of page, then go down and push the "search" button (leave the box blank). There will be a huge list of pharmacology tips and doctor discussions. Scan the list. Check out anything that has to do with Lamictal, Neurontin, Bipolar. Great Lamictal info is in there. Wishing you a smooth day. JohnL.
