Hi Paul. I've tried and studied lots of the same things. I found loading up on supplements of all kinds was somwhat helpful, but nothing to write home about, nothing to rely on. Fish oils, B vitamins, SAMe, picnogenol, tyrosine, GABA, yohimbe, DL Phenylalanine, etc. etc.I don't know how to increase GABA transport. Concerning Tyrosine, the body has a self-limiting mechanism and I don't know how to get around that. Large amounts of 5HTP get right in the brain and respond to dose, but Tyrosine isn't quite like that. It's availability is limited. The body uses what it needs and wastes the rest. Would be interesting to find a way around that. Good question.
Many books and articles claim success with Tyrosine supplements. But the actual clinical research studies I've seen so far showed no benefit over placebo. Who knows. We're all different and it just might work for some. Hope something works out for you. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but wanted you to know that you aren't the only one thinking about these things. Perhaps others will post some interesting info. Take care. JohnL.
