dear Colleen,

If you are experiencing rapid cycling, why aren't you on a mood stabalizer? Perhaps something like neurontin along with the effexor and risperdal might help. And about the fact that your trials of anti-depressants work only in the beginning --I read in the pharmachology tips that this kind of response is an indication of bipolarity. I had the same problem. I started to get better on a regiment of effexor, remeron, and neurontin.

Also, a note on the risperdal. I tried it for about six months. It was helpful to me but after a while, I started developing severe akathesia (inner restlessness) and restless legs syndrome.
Just thought I'd let you know of my experience in case the same occurs with you -although this may very well not happen to you.
