Ania I know completely how you feel. I am currently taking 150mg of effexor and it has really helped with my depression and anxiety. The only problem is that it made me feel very sedated during the day and it was very hard for me to stay awake at night. I'm currently in grad school at Northwestern so you can see why late nights would be regular for me! I told my doc about this and he prescribed cylert for me. One tablet every day has completely solved this problem for me. It took a couple of weeks to kick in but it has been great. My doc explained that effexor sedation is due to an unkown effect on the locus corelous (sp?). This is a part of the brain that helps regulate alertness. Also the cylert has a very low abuse potential so it might be a better choice than ritalin. The only drawback is that it could cause liver problems. I've been on it for 6 moths now and so far so good.
Hope this helps,
