James-
I took the Talacen when I was on the other ADs(Paxil, Celexa) and didn't have a problem(but I wasn't taking 25mg of Adderal three times/day).
The doc who finally got me lined out with the chronic pain problem(I was injured when I caught a patient who was falling, using proper body mechanics, otherwise I would have sustained more severe injuries) moved out of state. He had me on the Talacen, 1 or 2, three times daily as needed, along with Soma three times daily, as needed. We had gotten down to Talacen 1 and Soma 1 at bedtime most of the time and then Talacen 2 and Soma 1 when I had a particularly bad day, like when we were short staffed and I had to assist in moving and repositioning patients. Anyway, when my doc moved, another doc took over his practise. The new doc doesn't like Soma, so took me off of it.
It looks like I'm going to have to find another doc to manage the chronic pain(I've had epidurals, trigger point injections and all the other things that people have tried for pain control, and the Soma/Talacen combo is about the only thing that has worked without either knocking me out or making me loopy).
I'm not ready to consider surgery yet(and I've not seen many cases where it made a whole lot of difference) and don't really want to go to sleeping meds.
I have been taking the Remeron(15mg) the last couple of nights, but it still doesn't do the trick.
I do try to take my third Adderal dose early, and may have to talk to my psych doc about eliminating the third dose altogether.
What irony, for years I worked the evening shift, and finally got day shift(which was going well until all this no sleeping business) and may have to go back to a later shift :-(
