Hmm...
The idea wasn't that posting a message inherently transferred the copyright, but that agreeing to transfer the copyright was a condition of participating.
But really I just want to be able to use these posts elsewhere. For example, on my Read! page (the Books link at the top of the Psycho-Babble home page) or in an article or something (if I ever get organized). I don't need to become the legal "owner" of the post.
I've revised the FAQ again. :-)

Nobody should post anything they don't have the right to. When exactly one has that right can be complicated, though...

My understanding is that when you write something you (usually) get the copyright to it. It doesn't even have to include a copyright statement. There's a process by which you can *register* that copyright, but that's a somewhat separate issue.
