I was diagnosed with ADD almost two years ago at age 51. I had a touch of depression - was prescribed Ritalin for the ADD - terrible - I felt like I was in a fog and couldnt get out - made my focus and memory worse - and I worried about it more - so we switched to dexedrine - much better - as I am wont to do a year ago depression crept up on me - starts with a tinge of insomnia and proceeds from there- so now we are on celexa (new this month), wellbutrin, cytomel, estratest (testosterone supposed to help with sexual dysfunction - I DONT THINK SO!!!) and of course dexedrine - a touch of trazodone at night for insomnia and for those mornings when you prefer to walk into walls and forget where you are and where you need to be - etc (never could develop a tolerance!) -- the point of all of this is that if Ritalin is not the one for you and youre an adult - youre in good company! Switch!
