> My 12 year old is on Adderall and Paxil and Respiradol. He does beautifully when on the Respiradol but, I am so afraid of side effects. He does have the weight gain, that I can handle. My son has Tourettes. He is constantly in trouble at home and at school but when on Respiradol he is great. I see twitching in his wrists and ankles. I dont see it so much as a tic as I do a tremor. Has anyone had anything similar while on respiradol? thanks from a very worried mom

It's a shame we have to accept side effects in order to be well. I'm so happy to hear the medications are working though. That's music to my ears. I can't really offer any suggestions except perhaps to try sampling different antipsychotics. Zyprexa I believe has fewer side effects and might be worth trying, among others. You might want to ask the doc for a list of choices, and try them all one week each with a day in between. I know it sounds like a guinea pig thing, but the idea is to find the best match quickly, and leave no stone unturned. The best drug will make itself known within days, if not the first day. But in the absence of such sampling of choices, an atypical newer drug like Zyprexa would be a logical alternative to try.
