Weight loss is a common side effect, though a few people will actually gain weight instead. But for absence of weight gain potential, the odds are in your favor with Wellbutrin.

You might want to start with Wellbutrin, give it a month, and later consider adding Celexa if the Wellbutrin alone isn't getting you 100% well. But of all the choices, Wellbutrin is one of the least likely to cause weight gain, and it wouldn't be uncommon to experience some weight loss.Niccy - I have taken Wellbutrin and there was an initial weight loss. At the same time I had started in karate and by 6 months I had gained weight, but it was a solid weight. I am thicker than I would like to be (the old model image thing) but it was probably the muscle building, rather than the drug. John is right, I have seen weight gained with Celexa, too, although the propensity is supposed to be less than that of the other SSRIs. Some people do lose weight with SSRIs, but this is the exception and not the rule. Adding Celexa to Wellbutrin (after an adequate trial on Wellbutrin - 6 to 8 weeks) is a good course to follow. Good luck - Cam W.
