However, I am about 100 lbs overweight, and recently visited a Diet Center, where they suggested Diethylpropion (Tenuate) as an appetite suppressant. However, when I told them of my Celexa usage, they told me that I could not use both at the same time. I have gone off the Celexa and been taking the Tenuate for about 10 days, and I am feeling many of the symptoms of my depression returning. Is there any information about taking both of these drugs together? Does anyone have an alternative suggestion? Thanks

Back in the 1980's, I was taking PROZAC and TENUATE DOSPAN 75mgs for years. I knew I wouldn't get a stimulant any stronger than the Tenuate, so I opted for that one. This was a serendipitous discovery on my part when I took one of my sister's Tenuates, which she was taking to lose weight.
The Tenuate took the frazzled edge off the PROZAC, and I did very well on both of them. Separately, they didn't work so well, but together, they worked synergistically, and it was just fine.
Of course, though I took this combination with no problem for years and years, the Clinic I was going to deemed the regimen an "irrational mixture," (like them), and discontinued giving me the drugs when my doctor left. So it didn't matter how genuinely good I felt, or how well the drugs worked. Like true underachievers, they did
only what they were told to do, like automatons, and believed the gibberish pablum from their bible, the PDR. Even with letters and abstracts from Lilly re. the use of other drugs with this "new" class of drug, the SSRIs, they wanted me to remain SICK, and they got their wish. This brings me to my contention that some doctors want you to remain sick so that you become dependent upon them. I realize that this sounds crazy, but, hey, this is the appropriate group for such speculations, eh?
I await your barrage of discontent, and remain truly yours in kind ... kazoo
