The FDA recently requested that the drug company, Upjohn & Pharmacia, conduct clinical trials of reboxetine in the U.S. All of the data originally submitted was collected from foreign trials. The FDA has traditionally been reluctant to approve drugs without the inclusion of data coming from domestic investigations. There was no indication in the press release I read as to how long the process might take, but I find it hard to imagine that it would take less than a year. That pretty much sucks, but it’s better than nothing. A few months ago, there were doubts as to whether it would ever be approved at all, but Upjohn & Parmacia seems determined to stick with it.
