Morgihed - After 4 years of Effexor, it may be wise to taper over a longer period of time (esp. if your dose is 225mg daily or more). A taper period of 4 to 8 weeks would be better, in order to try to avoid withdrawl symptoms. Acupuncture may help ease some of the withdrawl symptoms, but I cannot say for sure. A balanced diet (eg the food guide) would probably be as good as any diet. As for a nutritional supplement; maybe B-complex vitamins to help maintain the integrity of the myelin sheath on the neurons. A healthy myelin sheath (a type of glial cell, I believe) conducts the electrical current down a neuron faster and more efficiently. Hope this helps - Cam W.
